About Me
Donovan is a Los Angeles–based writer and producer, born in Saudi Arabia and raised between the Philippines and Chicago. His perspective is shaped by movement, across countries, cultures, and identities, and informs the kinds of stories he’s drawn to tell. His work focuses on marginalized and migrant communities, often exploring masculinity, racial inequity, and sexual identity through an intimate, character-driven lens.
Donovan earned his MFA in Creative Producing from Columbia University, where he received the Arthur Krim Memorial Award and the Michael Hausman Foundation Award for excellence in producing, along with multiple production grants.
The short films he has produced have been supported by the Panavision New Filmmakers Program and the National Board of Review, shortlisted for the BAFTA Student Film Awards, and screened at festivals including Telluride, Fantasia, Sarajevo, Palm Springs ShortFest, Outfest Fusion, and NewFest.
He is an Outfest Screenwriting Lab Fellow and a Cine Qua Non Lab Storylines Lab participant for his feature scripts Fat Lip and Oasis, and a Film Independent Project Involve Producing Fellow.
Outside of his independent work, Donovan is a producer at Code and Theory, where he develops creative for global brands such as Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, and Yahoo.
He is always open to new collaborations and projects, wherever they may be in the world.
